About Us
The Association of Black Media Workers (ABMW) is a non-profit organization consisting of print, broadcast, public relations and other media-related professionals and students. The ABMW is also one of the oldest affiliate chapters of the National Association of Black Journalists and played a key role in the founding of that organization. ABMW's purpose is to unite African American media professionals in the Baltimore metropolitan area. ABMW is dedicated to upholding truth and excellence in the news and full equality in the industry.
 

ABMW members urge media professionals in Baltimore to join the organization and assist in the effort to increase the number of African American in decision-making positions in the media. ABMW strives to encourage and educate young African American interested in media careers. Additionally, the organization monitors and sensitizes media management and the public to the obligation of electronic, print and cable operations to present fair images of African American and other minorities. ABMW has enacted and established a Constitution for guiding its members.

All media professionals and media educators are eligible for full membership in the ABMW. are eligible for associate membership.

Student membership is open to those attending two or four-year accredited colleges or universities who are majoring in or pursuing a career in communications, mass media, journalism, and business/marketing. Click here to join us!
